Microperimetry allows precise functional examination of the retina and optic nerve and is included in the current multimodal (or integrated) imaging approach to the retina, primarily for the evaluation of the macular area. Macular disorders are among the major blinding conditions, and diagnosis, follow-up, and treatment are based on functional and morphological retinal evaluation.
